Hello, I’m Ash Poirier

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re interested in mindfulness meditation, a wonderful modality for bringing more peace to our lives, for decreasing the tensions of everyday life and for just feeling better! I have been teaching for several years in both group and one-to-one sessions. I am a committed practitioner who maintains a consistent study and practice schedule, allowing learning and deepening understanding to enhance not only my inner life, but also my teaching style. I have completed the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program and Mindfulness Mentor Training, both facilitated by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. Most of the Buddhist teachings I've received have been in the Theravada lineage, while I have also received teachings from the Dzogchen, Zen and Shambhala lineages as well. I am a graduate of Spirit Rock Meditation Center’s Dedicated Practitioner Program, am a US Navy veteran and have practiced as a physician associate in the past.

A Story

Though I was drawn to meditation early in life, it was a trip to Mongolia providing volunteer medical care that truly spurred my practice. The beautiful vastness of the Gobi awoke and mirrored something deep inside of me…the vast spaciousness of the mind that is present in all of us. The freedom and clarity that accompanied this feeling of vastness was amazing, relieving and inspirational. I knew I wanted to see if I could learn to access this freedom more.

So my journey began. Soon, I was attending retreats and learning from senior Western insight meditation teachers. The effect of this learning and practice was dramatic for me, changing how I relate to the thoughts, emotions and other experiences of day-to-day life. I wanted to share what I had learned, what I am learning. The opportunity came for me to enroll in the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, and I've had the privilege of teaching mindfulness meditation since then. And I continue to dedicate myself to learning and practice. All the phenomena of our lives can be held in the natural compassionate vastness of our hearts and minds. Come, let's share the beautiful practice of meditation together.
